### Hire a financial advisor to help you build a plan

 There’s no denying that this is a shameless plug, but it’s also good advice.  It’s important to have an objective third party to help you think through your major financial decisions.  Should you pay of your mortgage?  Should you max out your 401k?  How much life insurance should you really have?  Should you pay taxes now or defer them?  Do you really need a will?  How much money should you be saving to pay for college?  How should you structure your assets to optimize the income you will take when you retire?  Do you even need to think about that now?  Or can it wait?  A good advisor will help you plan for things you haven’t even thought of, while guiding you through the things you are already thinking about.  And if you aren’t sure where to start, call a professional – they can help.
